3D LCD display systems a re tools that are gaining importance in imaging applications,
from military systems to medical applications to industrial production lines.
Previous stereoscopic display systems have often been expensive and
unacceptably bulky with questionable performance. Polaris has solved these
problems with our flat panel LCD 3D display system.

Developed under an Army RDEC SBIR, the flat-panel three-dimensional display
is based on dual stacked liquid crystal displays (US Patent # 6181303). The
viewer wears passive polarized glasses to separate the left and right eye
views. Driven with dual video signals and operating at video rates, the display
has an integrated image processing board that converts the input right and left
eye views (cameras or simulations) to video signals(s-video, NTSC, RS-170) to
drive the two LCD panels. Rugged and compact, a 10 inch display is available,
as well as a 17 inch display. Displays of 42 inches are possible with
this technology.

Advantages
     - Full depth perception.
     - No bulky head gear.
     - Same resolution as a standard flat panel LCD display.
     - Wide field of view permitting many viewers simultaneously.
     - Operates in real time at display framing rates.
     - Compact package size (for the 10.4” diagonal screen shown,
       housing size is only 11.5” x 9” x 2”).
     - Simple, low cost 3D glasses do not impact viewing of display environment
(i.e. you can see the room while wearing the glasses)
