The Visible Division of Aperture Imaging Polarimeter is a "on-demand" polarimeter, capable of performing traditional intensity imaging in addition to more informative polarization imaging. A visible intensity/polarization imager that collects both types of imagery concurrently satisfying the field ability requirement.
Specifications
- Visible spectrum (500nm – 550nm)
- 5° field of view (diagonal field in each sub image)
- 14.7Hz at 972x972 resolution
- 26.7Hz at 472x472 resolution
- 14bit dynamic range (pictures have a grayscale 0-16,383 counts)
- Division of Aperture (four images appear on a single CCD, captured
at the same time)
- Linear Stokes Polarimeter (we measure the first 3 components of the
Stokes vector, no phase information).
- We capture four images every frame; one unpolarized image for
convention radiometric analysis and improved signal in low
power situations, three linearly polarizered images,
one each at 0°, 60 , and 120 .
- Custom software package for communicating with the sensor and
recording imagery
- Software also reduces the three polarized images into Degree of
Linear Polarization and Linear Polarization Orientation
