Polaris Sensor Technologies is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer (New Graduate) to join our dynamic team working on advanced opto-mechanical systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on lab work, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to a wide variety of projects from design through testing.
This position is full-time (40 hours per week) on-site in Huntsville, Alabama. Salary is commensurate with applicant’s qualifications and experience. Polaris offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, a robust ETO plan, and 401k.

Responsibilities
- Support design and development of opto-mechanical assemblies, housings, and test fixtures.
- Work with cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, optical, electrical, software) to integrate systems.
- Perform mechanical design in SolidWorks (or similar CAD tools), including modeling, drafting, and documentation.
- Assemble and test prototypes in the lab (approximately 50% of time).
- Collaborate on electronics integration and cable management in mechanical systems.
- Participate in laboratory and field testing, including occasional travel to test sites.
- Contribute to multiple projects at once, ranging from early concepts to full system builds.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (recent graduate or up to 5 years of experience).
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or similar.
- Hands-on skills with mechanical/electronic assembly and lab tools.
- Interest in working on a variety of opto-mechanical systems and components.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to thermal/fluid simulations or FEA.
- Experience with prototyping (3D printing, machining, or similar).
- Coursework or projects involving optics, imaging systems, or mechatronics.
- Familiarity with wiring, soldering, or basic electronics troubleshooting.
