Polaris Sensor Technologies is seeking an Optical Engineer to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and validate optical models and simulation software. This position requires experience with optical analysis, including a solid understanding of physical and geometrical optics, Zemax, Matlab or Python modeling, as well as a strong data analysis background. Experience with aero-optics and wind tunnel testing is a plus.

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) on-site in Huntsville, Alabama. Salary is commensurate with applicant’s qualifications and experience. Polaris offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, a robust ETO plan, and 401k.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens and must be able to obtain a security clearance upon demonstrated need.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate aero-optical models
  • Simulate optical effects for scene generation or flight predictions
  • Support ground facility test planning
  • Analyze hypersonic wind tunnel test data
  • Develop comprehensive and detailed reports

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Physics, Optical Science, Optical Engineering, or a related technical area
  • 2 years minimum demonstrated experience in a related field
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good organizational skills and disciplined attention to detail
